PORTRAIT STUDY N1 – Gypsum Head Drawing
Ink on Paper, 2004
35 × 50 cm / 13.8 × 19.7 in
Pencil on paper Created during my studies in Plovdiv, Bulgaria This drawing is a portrait study of a classical gypsum head, created during my art education in Plovdiv while I was still a high school student. The work focuses on developing an understanding of proportion, form, light, and shadow—fundamental skills in classical drawing training. Through careful observation and tonal shading, I explored the structure and volume of the sculpture, learning how light reveals shape and character. This study reflects an important stage in my artistic journey, laying the foundation for the creative and expressive work I create today. As one of my early academic drawings, it represents both a technical exercise and a valuable memory from the beginning of my path as an artist. Thank you for visiting my gallery and taking a glimpse into the early years of my artistic development. ✨
